Additions/Corrections to Nellis–Nelles, Immigrants From the Palatinate, 1710

This page documents additions and corrections to the two-volume set, Nellis–Nelles, Immigrants From the Palatinate, 1710.

General

Cousin Marriages

Volume 2 made an effort to identify cases of Nellis descendants who married Nellis descendants. A much more comprehensive accounting can be found at my Married Cousins Index, which is limited to deceased persons.

Volume 1

p. 38

86. John NELLES. His 2nd wife was Delilah HELMER.

p. 47

130. Jacob Christopher NELLIS. It says his daughter, Mary Ann NELLIS (#556), had no children, but possible children are given in Vol. 2, p. 24, ID 556.

p. 87

332. John Barend NELLIS. He also had a daughter, Julia Ann NELLIS, born 11 Nov 1826 in Palatine, Montgomery Co., NY, died 15 Jan 1916 in Union Twp, Cambridge, Story Co., IA.

p. 141

690. Robert CROUSE. Robert and son Huntington couldn’t possibly both have been born in 1830. Find a Grave suggests that Huntington was born 29 Aug 1872.

p. 148

748. Levi FAILING. It says that he died in Flushing, Queens Co., New York, but he and his family had moved to Michigan, and ample evidence shows that he actually died in Mount Morris, Genesee Co., Michigan. There is a town named Flushing in Genesee Co., Michigan. That, coupled with the fact that Levi was born in New York may be the source of the confusion.

pp. 189–190

1016. Sylvanus NELLIS. For daughter Emma (#2809) it says “(No children)”, but for her individual entry on page 412, it shows that she had a child, William N. CASLER.

p. 191

1023. Ezekiah NELLIS. The list of children for Ezekiah seems a bit messed up. It lists Jessie and Jervis as twins, but other research doesn’t find these names. Instead, it finds twins Jane and James. The 1870 US Census lists Jane as Jennie, so perhaps “Jessie” was meant to be Jennie, making Jane and “Jessie” the same person, and the twin of James, who perhaps was who “Jervis” was meant to be. For daughter (ⅵ, #2833) Jane it gives the notation “NFI”, but more information is given in Volume 2 on page 74.

p. 199

1079. Permilia SHULTS. For son Michael SHAVER (#2930) it says “(No children)”, but on detail page 423, it says of him and wife Phoebe COOK, “They had two children.”

p. 200

1087. Anna Maria NELLIS. It says that she and husband W. Norman SHULL had children Nellis J, William, and Edward, but on p. 425, it says that Amelia NELLIS (#2955) and husband Norman SCHULL had children Edward, Jessie, and Nellie J. It seems Norman SHULL/SCHULL is the father of these children, but one of the two women is not their mother. More info at Norman SHULL (1960e) in Vol. 2, p. 56.

pp. 207–08

1120. Elijah D. BELLINGER. For son Ezra D. BELLINGER (#3045) it says he was born in 1865, but on detail page 437, it says he was born 31 Mar 1862.

p. 212

1150. Elizabeth KLOCK. According the engraving on her headstone, shown at her Find a Grave memorial, she married John KRAKE (not DRAKE).

pp. 214–15

1169. Jacob Nellis EHLE. Daughter (ⅵ) Alida EHLE (Twin) is given the ID 2718 here, but on page 401 she is given the ID 2719 of twin sister Elizabeth EHLE.

p. 266

1527. Nancy Amelia BARBER. Her death date of 1873 is suspicious. The engraving on her headstone, shown at her Find a Grave memorial, says she died 25 Jul 1855.

p. 279

1604. Catharine Jane Victoria RACEY.
1607. Francis Walcote RACEY.
These two entries show an apparent conflict of who was the mother of children (ⅰ) Racey Wallace YOUNG and (ⅱ) Helen Carol YOUNG. Further research shows that Francis Walcote (probably Frances Walcott) married William (actually John) Morris YOUNG in 1871. She died in 1877, after which John married her sister, Catharine, in 1891. Children Racey and Helen were born in 1874 and 1878, respectively, so they were certainly the children of Frances; and, no doubt, sister Catharine cared for them after their mother's death, hence the record shows both women being their mothers.

p. 283

1638. William SHAUT. Here it says that daughter (ⅱ) Estella (ID 3923) was born in 1845, but on p. 536 it says she was born in 1843. I suspect it meant to say that daughter (ⅲ) Eliza Ann SHAUT (ID 3924) was born in 1845, not Estella.

p. 284

1649. William FOX. Daughter (ⅱ, #3936) Cordellia FOX married Mortimer ENO, not ENZO. For reference, see his Find-a-Grave memorial.

p. 285

1656. Hiram FOX. It seems highly unlikely that Hiram and 2nd wife MOSELY would name their daughter, Phoebe Almira FOX, the same as Hiram’s 3rd wife, Phoebe Almira FENNER. Furthermore, the US Census of 1860 and 1870 and the NY Census of 1865 indicate that the mother of Phoebe Almira FOX was Catherine (WART), not MOSELY.

p. 299

1781. William Nellis DOWNING. It appears that daughter (#4075, ⅲ) Sarah DOWNING married William LOOTS (not LOTTS), as attributed to (#4076, ⅳ) Sarah DOWNING. Not finding references to GARRETT. Could Sarah and “Daughter” be the same person? For reference, see Sarah’s Find-a-Grave memorial.

p. 302

1797. Joseph Dunn NELLIS. Here it gives the birth date for daughter (ⅱ) Minnie NELLIS (#4130) as Nov 1858, but on page 554 it gives 5 Oct 1864.

p. 306

1846. Edmon N. BRUCE. Other sources suggest his given name is Edom.

1849. Eliza GRAMPS. She married Joshua EMPIE (#4000).

p. 311

1891. Jacob NELLIS. There doesn’t seem to be any evidence to support Jacob having daughters 4228 (ⅰ) Lany G. NELLIS or 4232 (ⅴ) Alice N. NELLIS. In fact, they both appear to be wives of 4229 (ⅱ) Charles F. Nellis.

p. 320

1973. William Altenburg KLOCK. For daughter (ⅰ, #4318) Delia it gives the notation “NFI”, but more information is given on page 571. There is no further information for son (ⅱ, #4319) Harvey, so it seems the designation was misplaced.

p. 328

2050. Mary FLINT. Sons Menzo (#4390) and Addison (#4391) are given the notation “NFI”, but more information is given on p. 578.

p. 338

2168. Josephine NELLIS. Son (ⅱ) William COOK is assigned ID 4486b in Volume 2, and listed on p. 131. There is no valid reference for his entry.

p. 341

2190. James E. NEELY. According to the headstone at Find a Grave, twin daughters Ida and Ada died in 1894, not 1884.

p. 345

2214. Sophia Katherine NELLIS. The entry for daughter Bertha Lumira BARBER (#4547) says that she had no children, but a child for her is listed in Vol. 2, p. 132.

p. 347

2229. Norman NELLIS. Daughter Hattie NELLIS is listed here with ID 4564, but in Vol. 2, page 134, she is shown with ID 4562e.

p. 359

2238. Joseph NELLES. The entry for son Andrew Franklin NELLES (#4745) says that he was buried in Jubilee Cemetery, but Andrew’s entry on p. 617 says he was buried in Caledonia Cemetery. Find a Grave agrees with Caledonia Cemetery.

p. 360

2345. Isaac Newton NELLES. According to son Mahlon E. NELLES’s birth record, Mahlon’s mother was Margaret PLASKETT (not Lillian Rosamond BRADT), and Mahlon was born 23 Aug 1914 in Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. According to their marriage record, Isaac married Margaret Jane PLASKETT 10 Aug 1912 in Middlesex, Ontario, Canada.

p. 371

2440. Louise Florence Celeste NELLES. Adopted son Kenneth NELLES (#4888) is given the notation “NFI”, but more information is given on p. 634.

p. 381

2516. Arthur W. TISDALE. Multiple sources indicate that Arthur did not marry Mary ATCHESON; that Arthur died young (age 16) and that his brother John (#2517) in fact married Mary. (See also Vol. 2, p. 67 and Arthur’s and John’s WikiTree profiles.)

p. 382

2528. Grace Eleanor NELLIS. Child ⅱ is Edwina (female), not Edwin. She was born 18 Aug 1910 in Mount Clemens, Macomb, MI. She died 8 Jul 2005. She married Harry Van Winkle Odle, son of Harry L Odle and Grace Swoveland, on 10 Feb 1940 in Mount Clemens, Macomb, MI.

p. 383

2543. Lois HESS. Entry 4980 for James Rolland KERR would seem to conflate into a single entry two sons, as given by their Find a Grave memorials: James Arden KERR and Rolland Hess KERR.

p. 394

2659. Sarah NELLIS. Sarah was certainly not buried in 1941, four years before she died!

p. 396

2673. Charles Nelles OSTERHOUT.

2677. Klock NELLES. He did not die when stated, as Vol. 2, p. 72, attempted to correct, while stumbling in the correction.

p. 399

2693. Mary E. BAUDER. Mary could not have died in 1881 if she bore daughter Jessie in 1882. The date also appears as her wedding date. Mary’s headstone, shown at her Find a Grave memorial, says that she died in 1941.

2695. Irving N. BAUDER. His middle initial is H, according to numerous census records and as inscribed on his headstone at Find a Grave. Also, his wife’s last name at birth is HEMSTREET (not HENSTREET), as also found on numerous census records and inscribed on her headstone at Find a Grave.

p. 401

2719. Alida EHLE. Alida is assigned ID 2718 on pp. 214–15, where 2719 is assigned to her twin sister.

p. 412

2809. Emma NELLIS. The entry shows that Emma had a son, William N. CASLER, but on the entry for her father, Sylvanus NELLIS (#1016) on pp. 189–190, it lists her with “(No children)”.

p. 418

2871. Edgar NELLIS. The engraving on son (ⅲ) Orlo’s headstone at Find a Grave says that he was born in 1892 (not 1889).

p. 420

2891. Charles H. NELLIS. It is unlikely that wife Celia was born in 1833, 18 years before him. Find a Grave says she was born in 1852.

2892. George W. NELLIS. It is unlikely that wife Martha was born in 1832, 21 years before him. Find a Grave says she was born in 1850. Furthermore, it is impossible for their children James (1852/1853) and Louisa (1854) to be born within 1 year of their father (1853). Find a Grave says that James was born in 1871 and Louisa was born in 1874.

p. 423

2930. Michael SHAVER. The entry says of Michael and wife Phoebe COOK, “They had two children,” but in the entry of his mother, Permilia SHULTS (#1079), p. 199, it says of Michael, “(No children)”.

p. 425

2955. Amelia NELLIS. It says that she and husband Norman SCHULL had children Edward, Jessie, and Nellie J, but on p. 200 it says that Anna Maria NELLIS (#1087) and husband W. Norman SHULL had children Nellis J, William, and Edward. It seems Norman SCHULL/SHULL is the father of these children, but one of the two women is not their mother. More info at Norman SHULL (1960e) in Vol. 2, p. 56.

p. 433

3016. Laura S. NELLIS. Additional information: She was born 13 Mar 1852 in Amsterdam, Montgomery Co., NY, and died 13 Sep 1922 in Erie, Erie Co., PA. Children:

  1. Nellie WHALING (1872–1961)
  2. Albert Alfred WHALING (1874–1948)
  3. Howard Michael WHALING (1876–1932)
  4. Emmett Robert WHALING (1880–1956)
  5. Francis Edward WHALING (1885–1918)
  6. Aloysius WHALING (1887–1887)
  7. Loretta WHALING (1888–1970)
  8. Raymond Joseph WHALING (1890–1969)
  9. Alma Marie WHALING (1892–1961)
  10. Florence WHALING (1895–1895)

p. 435

3028. Byron NELLIS. The following children are assigned IDs in Volume 2, p. 154:

p. 437

3045. Ezra D. BELLINGER. It says here that he was born 31 Mar 1862, but on p. 208, it says he was born in 1865.

pp. 441–42

3075. John Nellis KLOCK. Daughter Helen (#5433) is given the notation “NFI”, but more information is given on p. 697.

p. 444

3101. Anna Mae NELLIS. More data on daughter (ⅰ) Lillian KINGSBURY can be found in Volume 2 where she is assigned the ID 5455b (p. 157).

p. 455

3192. Nancy Vandalia SHULTS. It says she married Orlando WARD in 1965, 45 years after she died. It’s likely they married in 1865.

p. 465

3270. Anna Mary NELLIS. It says of son (#5657 i) Albert GETMAN, “No children”, but children are given in Volume 2, p. 162.

p. 466

3283. Delia Catherine GETMAN. The Roman Numerals indicating the order of her children’s birth are not sequential: The 2nd ⅵ should be ⅶ and the ⅶ should be ⅷ.

pp. 471–72

3321. Alvah GRAY. Evidence seems to suggest that Alvah GRAY is the same person as Alfred GRAY, listed as the father-in-law of (#5473) Clinton BECK, p. 702. Both Alvah and Alfred are listed as married to Emma YAUNEY. This would make Clinton’s wife, Permilia M. GRAY, the daughter of Alvah GRAY and Emma YAUNEY, and make Clinton and Permilia 3rd cousins.

p. 472

3322. Charles S. GRAY. Pretty unlikely that both of Charles’s wives, Almira GETMAN and Estella M. STRAYER, were born on the same day, 11 May 1855. According to the engravings on their respective headstones, Almira was indeed born on 11 May 1855 (see her Find-a-Grave memorial), but Estella was born 6 Oct 1858 (see her Find-a-Grave memorial).

p. 477

3371. Charles SITTERLY. Daughter (iii) Amelia is said to be born in 1884 and to have never married, but her husband is given as George R. NELLIS (#5122, p. 661), where it says she was born in 1888.

p. 484

3440. Dora Louise WILLSON. Dora died in 1922, not 1873. She married Thomas Ramsey DINNIS, not DENNIS. For further reference, Find-a-Grave memorials for Dora and Thomas.

p. 486

3457. Erie Raymond WATERS. It says, “He married W. B. TISDALE,” but Erie is female, and she married William Bousfield TISDALE.

p. 494

3549. Alexander “Sandy” James NELLES. Son Floyd (#5873) is given the notation “NFI”, but more information is given on p. 748.

p. 512

3700. William Henry NELLES. It gives the surname of the husband of daughter Verda (#6089) as QUILLIN, but on p. 775, it says QUILLAN. Find a Grave prefers QUILLIN.

p. 541

3987. Mary Elida CROUSE.
3988. Leander CROUSE.
3989. Elizabeth CROUSE.
It seems suspicious that these three siblings were all baptized on 17 Aug, with Mary and Elizabeth in 1847, a Tuesday, but Leander in 1846, a Monday.

p. 554

4130. Minnie NELLIS. Here it gives her birth date as 5 Oct 1864, but on page 302, as the daughter of Joseph Dunn NELLIS (#1797), it gives Nov 1858.

p. 559

4188. Alydia Catharine NELLIS. A near-duplicate entry on p. 668 adds a son Willard NEAL.

p. 563

4225. George Webster NELLIS. His wife, Eunice Adora WASHBURN, certainly did not die before she was born. Instead of 1832, Find A Grave suggests that she died in 1932.

p. 568

4286. William HACKNEY. Multiple sources, including Find a Grave, suggest that William was born in 1864. He certainly did not marry Anna the year of his birth.

p. 572

4330. Maude May MULINEX. It shows her with the same DAR number (#136052) as sister Adelia MULINEX’s (#4331) daughter, Maude BRADLEY (#6555) on page 827.

4331. Adelia MULINEX. For child (ⅰ) Maude BRADLEY (#6555) it gives the notation “NFI”, but more information is given on page 827.

p. 580

4412. Esther Catharine FLINT. It seems her husband’s and children’s surnames are BAUM, not BUEMS.

4416. Carrie FLINT. The order of her husbands is reversed: Van Rensselaer SCHOONMAKER was her first husband (they married in 1884), and Aaron LOUCKS was her second husband (they married in 1908).

p. 587

4476. Ada NELLIS. For child (ⅰ) Nellis MOORE (#6679) it gives the notation “NFI”, but more information is given in Vol. 2, p. 211.

p. 604

4617. Lucy Anna BOYCE. For her son, Richard CHASE (#6902), it gives the notation “NFI”, but more information is given in Volume 2, p. 240.

p. 612

4708. Martha M. KENNEDY. Independent research suggests that Martha did not marry Lou MAPES, but instead Lou married Martha’s sister, (#4711) Emma Jane KENNEDY.

p. 613

4722. Annie Gladys HOOVER. Annie was female, not a “He”.

p. 617

4745. Andrew Franklin NELLES. It says here that Andrew was buried in Caledonia Cemetery, but his entry on p. 359 under his father, Joseph NELLES (#2238), says that he was buried in Jubilee Cemetery. Find a Grave agrees with Caledonia Cemetery.

p. 623

4797. Robert Archibald McIsaac. It lists (#7141, ⅲ) James Edward McIsaac as his son, but in Volume 2, p. 271, it gives James's birthdate before Robert’s, so clearly not his son. It appears that James’s father is a different Robert McIsaac, this one being Robert’s paternal grandfather, Robert McIsaac (1852–1914), father-in-law to Robert’s mother, Jane Maria Fink (#2378).

p. 631

4867. Andrew E. Nellis V.

p. 648

4993. Leonard LEPPER. External evidence shows that Leonard married Mary in 1879 and Chloe in 1883. (Indeed, Mary died in 1880.) So the books are backwards as to which wife was first and second. (Incidentally, Mary and Chloe were sisters.)

p. 657

5081. Kathryn KELLER.

p. 660

5107. Mildred Twila OSTERHOUT. Evidence seems to indicate that son (#7519) Duane L. BERRY was born 25 Dec 1934, not 1924, which is consistent with Mildred and Lloyd marrying in 1930 (per external evidence).

p. 661

IDs 5119 and 5121 are reversed order.

p. 662

5130. Myrtle Catharine SMITH. For son Ronald Albert WEIDENMAYER (#7537) it gives the notation “NFI”, but more information is given in Vol. 2, pp. 327–28.

5131. Nellis Peter SMITH. For son (ⅱ) Raymond Edward SMITH, it says he married wife Maria Guletto WEISENHORN on 31 Mar 1967 before she was born on 25 Sep 1967.

p. 668

Data for IDs 4187–4189 is out of sequence and is nearly a duplicate of that on p. 559. (ID 4188 shows son Willard not shown on p. 559.)

pp. 674–75

5241. Cora May PARKS. The data for son James L. COOK (#7617) says “(NFI)” for no further information; however, additional information is given in Vol. 2, p. 337.

p. 677

5269. Leon E. NELLIS. The data for son Leon Peter NELLIS (#7648) says “(NFI)” for no further information; however, additional information is given in Vol. 2, pp. 340–41.

p. 688

5354. Herbert Livingston NELLIS died 26 Aug 1997 in Union Beach, Monmouth Co., NJ. His wife Marian Heldt HANSEN was born 17 Apr 1914 in Bayonne, Hudson Co., NJ, and died 18 Oct 1980 in Staten Island, Richmond Co., NY.

5355. Dorothy Lucile NELLIS died 18 Jun 1999 in Ellicott City, Howard Co., MD. Her husband Norman Kenneth LOWES was born 27 May 1899 in New York, New York, and died 23 Jan 1996 in Ellicott City, Howard Co., MD.

p. 689

5366. Clarence NELLIS. His daughter Aletha NELLIS (ii) is referenced as Aleatha M. NELLIS (7771b) in Vol. 2, p. 356.

p. 699

5445. Alvin Ambrose NELLIS Sr. For son Alvin (#7859) it gives the notation “NFI”, but more information is given in Vol. 2, pp. 368–69.

p. 702

5473. Clinton BECK. Evidence seems to suggest that Clinton’s father-in-law, Alfred GRAY, is the same person as (#3321) Alvah GRAY (p. 471). Note that both Alfred and Alvah are married to Emma YAUNEY. This would make Clinton’s wife Permilia M. GRAY the daughter of Alvah GRAY and Emma YAUNEY, and make Clinton and Permilia 3rd cousins.

p. 703

5479. Ada Nancy KLOCK
5480. Amos P. KLOCK
If these two entries are to believed, two daughters of these siblings had the same first and middle names (Marilyn Alma), were born in the same year (1907), and died on the same day (7 Nov 1920). Additionally, another daughter, Clair, also died on the same day. The Getman Family Genealogy 1710–1974 instead suggests that Clair died on the day of her birth and was an only child. And Amos’s daughter was named Maryland. The dates seem to hold up for her.

pp. 707–08

5513. Darwin Hezekiah FOX. It says that he married Lillian May LARUE first and Sarah BRUCHARD/BARTLETT second; however, the ages of the children born of the two wives suggest the reverse order of the marriages.

p. 726

5674. John J. NELLIS. Child ID 81246 should be 8126. The child’s middle name is misspelled. It should be Sylvander, as is given in the volume’s dedication page.

p. 736

5770. Orva McKinley EACKER. It says he died in 1874 (before he was born in 1896!), but he actually died in 1974.

p. 744

5825. Lionel Booker DENISON. It says Lionel and wife Georgina had son John Edward DENISON (#8239), but in Vol. 2 (p. 167) it says that John Edward DENISON (#8239) was the son of Lionel’s brother Richard DENISON (#5823).

p. 775

6089. Verda NELLES. It gives the surname of her husband as QUILLAN, but on p. 512 it says QUILLIN. Find a Grave prefers QUILLIN.

p. 779

6133. Charles Merritt DUNCOMBE. Charles died in 1954, not 1854.

p. 785

6186. Arthur Thorburn NELLES. Daisy Mae’s surname at birth was KYLE, not BROWN. She married Herbert Wesley BROWN before marrying Arthur.

p. 794

6521. Amine NELLIS. She could not have died (1847) before she was born (1861). Find A Grave suggests she died in 1947.

p. 801

6333. Frederick FREEMAN. Son Clarence is shown with ID 8799, which is also assigned to his half-brother Gordon. According to Vol. 2, p. 192, and the indices of both volumes, the correct ID for Clarence is 8797.

p. 802

6343. George FLINT. This person is actually Georgia, a woman. She married Silas Delos McGRADY (not McGRADEY), a man. The children listed for them, Virginia Rose FLINT (#8811) and George Wilson FLINT (#8812), are actually the children of Georgia’s brother, Ezra Egbert FLINT (#6342). This is supported by the US Census records of 1910 and 1920.

p. 816

6458. Grace COOK. Contrary evidence suggests that Louis C. EHLE (#8977) is not her son, but instead the brother of her husband, Boyd EHLE.

p. 824

6532. Katharina HACKNEY. All evidence suggests that she married Howard Clifford McGREGOR, not William McGREGOR. Howard was born 12 Nov 1888 in Sheffield, Colbert Co., AL. He died 29 Oct 1940. Their son William Hackney McGREGOR was born 28 Feb 1922 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., OK. He died 25 Apr 2004 in Gloversville, Fulton Co., NY.

p. 825

6538. Robert Walter HEISLER. It seems suspicious that Walter was born on the same date (24 Aug 1916) as his wife, Ruby KEEL. Find a Grave says Ruby was born 28 Sep 1921.

p. 826

6553. Morton Gerrit ROBINSON. It says that his wife, Almyra Belle COVEY, was born in St. Paul, Neosho Co., NE (Nebraska), but Neosho County is in Kansas, and St. Paul, Nebraska, is in Howard County.

p. 827

6555. Maude BRADLEY. It shows her with the same DAR number (#136052) as her mother’s sister, Maude May MULINEX (#4330) on page 572.

p. 830

6627. Reginald Edward CROUSE. His son Henry is incorrectly given the number 9102. The correct number is 9101, where he can be referenced in Vol. 2, p. 555, where the correction is noted.

6629. Catherine Bowne CROUSE. Her son Daniel is incorrectly given the number 9100. The correct number is 9102, where he can be referenced in Vol. 2, p. 555, where the correction is noted. ID 9100 is correctly given to Harriet Isabel CROUSE, mentioned earlier on the page as the daughter of Reginald Edward CROUSE (#6627).

p. 831

6643. Catherine/Caren Maynard CROUSE. Her son Coleman is incorrectly given the number 9113, which is a duplicate of that given to William McIntosh CROUSE Jr., mentioned earlier on the page as the son of William McIntosh CROUSE Sr. (#6641). The corrected number is 9113b, where he can be referenced in Vol. 2, p. 557, where the correction is noted.

455. Catharine GETMAN & Ludwig RICKARD. Here it lists additional children from those listed in Volume 1 (p. 111), but included in this addition is #1677c (ⅳ) Friedrich RICKARD, with no information provided; but a #1677 Friedrich RICKARD is already accounted for in Volume 1 (p. 287) and updated in Volume 2 (p. 47).

p. 22

515. John H. GRAMPS. The following child IDs are specified incorrectly.

p. 31

1027. Julia NELLIS. The final sentence in her entry says, “They apparently did not have #2861 Mary and #2862 Jonas” (see Vol. 1, p. 192), but #2862 is John, and Jonas is #2857, so who do they mean: #2857 Jonas or #2862 John?

p. 36

1298d. John Henry PECK. He is shown on page 16 with ID 1300d, but with surname BECK. In the index, he is shown under BECK with ID 1300d, but also under PECK with ID 1298d!

p. 37

1303. Albert Allen BECK. He is shown with an incorrect ID. His ID is actually 1304, as given on p. 16 and in the index.

p. 39

1386b. George W. NELLES. His sons are shown here with IDs 3454b and 3454c, but on page 94 they are shown with IDs 3451b and 3451c, respectively. The index uses the 3454b and 3454c IDs.

pp. 39–40

1438. Lorenzo Dow NELLIS. Son Frederick J. NELLIS is shown here with ID 3525b, but his actual ID is 3526b as given on p. 95 and in the index.

p. 44

1583h. Margaret Elizabeth RUNCHEY. Margaret could not have died in 1857 if she bore children in Nov 1858 (Charles) and 1861 (Jane).

p. 49

1771b. William HICKEY. The ID number, 1771b, is not referenced in the text, so we cannot directly refer back to William’s parents. The following is speculative: That William's parents were omitted from Volume 1, but should have been added to Volume 2, p. 22, as an omission to Volume 1, as #491b (given name) HICKEY, with his son, William, presented on that page as #1771b.

p. 52

1827. Mary Martha NELLIS. Here it gives the surname of the four children as MYER, but on pages 117 and 118, it gives their surname as MEYERS.

p. 54

1878b. David Henry DOCKSTADER. It shows daughter Edith Mae DOCKSTADER with ID 4225b, but on p. 122, it associates 4225b with Frank William DOXSTADER and his daughter as Edith Mae DOXSTADER with ID 6505b. Not clear whether the two Edith Maes are the same or different persons. Note that their surnames are spelled differently.

p. 55

1949b. Didaima FICAL. The Roman Numerals indicating the birth order of the children are out of sequence and non-unique, duplicating numerals ⅰ and ⅲ. Presumably:

p. 56

1960e. Norman SHULL. It says that Norman married either Amelia NELLIS (#2955) with children Nellis J, Jessie A, and Edward, or he married Anna Maria NELLIS (#1087). Vol. 1, p. 425, Amelia NELLIS (#2955), supports this, but using Nellie J instead of Nellis J, but Vol. 1, p. 200, says that Anna Maria NELLIS (#1087) is the mother of Nellis J, William, and Edward, presumed to be the same set of siblings. This raises the question as whether the children’s mother is Anna Maria or Amelia.

p. 59

2148. Maria Catharina SCHUNK. Children Armina Louise (4461b) and Adolf (4461c) are shown here with the surname MEYER, but on page 130, they show as MAYER.

p. 61

2166. Henrietta Hinchman NELLIS. The unnamed child (ⅰ) is erroneously shown here with the ID 4486b, which is the ID of William COOK (see p. 131 and the index). William is the son of Josephine NELLIS (#2168) and Alonzo COOK (Vol. 1, p. 338).

2216. Ella Evangeline NELLIS. Her children Flora Anna SIMMONS and George Leslie SIMMONS are shown here with IDs 4562b and 4562c, respectively, but on page 133 they are shown with IDs 4561b and 4562b, respectively.

p. 62

2218. Annie Elizabeth NELLIS. It seems that entries 4562c (Roy E. WILKINSON) and 4562d (Leslie M. WILKINSON) for her sons, both on page 133 were mistakenly omitted.

p. 63

2265. Philo SNYDER. All indications are that he died in Dell Rapids, SD (South Dakota), not MN (Minnesota).

2268b. Harriet Latisha SNYDER.

2268c. George SNYDER.

p. 64

2268e. James SNYDER.

2268f. Laney SNYDER.

p. 66

2378. Jane Maria FINK. It purports to correct the spelling of the surname of Jane’s husband, which is given in Volume 1 (p. 364) as McISAAC, to McISSAC; however, all evidence suggests that McISAAC is correct; that the correction is incorrect. The error is compounded with the incorrect spelling of their grandchildren at IDs 7140–7145 on page 271.

p. 67

2516. Arthur W. TISDALE. Multiple sources indicate that Arthur did not marry Mary ATCHESON; that Arthur died young (age 16) and that his brother John (#2517) in fact married Mary. (See also Vol. 1, p. 381 and Arthur’s and John’s WikiTree profiles.)

2542. Elvira Amelia HESS. Husband Ezra Perrin SAVAGE was the 12th governor of Nebraska (Wikipedia).

p. 68

2545. Elmer Asbury HESS. Contrary to what’s stated, the husband of daughter Mary HESS is John Willard ADDIE of Armour, South Dakota, according to Find a Grave.

p. 72

2677. Klock NELLIS.
2669. Nancy R. NELLIS.

p. 75

2845. Amy KLOCK and Charles Edwin BALDWIN. The book raises doubt as to whether (ⅱ) Louis is their son, as given in Vol. 1, p. 416. The US Census of 1880 confirms that he is.

p. 78

2890. Stewart W. NELLIS. Here it lists son Walter Burdett NELLIS with ID 5273c, but on page 150 it gives that ID to Walter’s brother Edward Byron NELLIS. The index gives the ID to both brothers.

p. 85

3316. Almira GRAY. It seems quite unlikely that daughter (ⅱ) Emma died on the same day that daughter (ⅲ) Lizzie was baptized and that cousin Samuel (see #3317) died. More likely the book is in error.

pp. 89–90

3379f. Ida May PECK. It says that the husband of child (ⅳ) Amy BURLINGHAM, Charles Rufus SCHOFIELD, was born 29 Mar 1906, but that was actually their wedding date. Find a Grave suggests that he was born 15 Oct 1877.

3317. Andrew GRAY. It seems quite unlikely that son Andrew died on the same day that his cousins Emma and Lizzie GRAY (see #3316) died. More likely the book is in error.

p. 94

3440. Dora Louise WILLSON. Dora married Thomas Ramsey DINNIS, not DENNIS. For further reference, Find-a-Grave memorial for Thomas.

3451b. George T. NELLES.
3451c. Edwin R. NELLES.
These individuals are shown with IDs 3454b and 3454c, respectively, on page 39. The index uses the 3454b and 3454c IDs.

p. 95

3508b. Margaret BURNS. Here it lists her son (5834b) as Abel J. BAUDER, but on page 168 it gives his name as Abel J. POTTER. Which is correct?

p. 101

3721. Harry BEEMER. It states that he “second married Sarah WOOD,” but evidence shows that it was his father, John BEEMER (see Vol. 1, p. 266, ID 1527), who married Sarah WOOD. For evidence, see John’s Find a Grave memorial.

3761. Willison Boise [sic] NELLES. This appears to be a mangled correction from Volume 1 (page 520), where the middle name was presented as either Boies or Boris. Volume 2 says that Boris is incorrect, but then spells the middle name as Boise rather than Boies. Boies would seem to be the correct spelling since it matches Willison’s descendants Beverly Boies CROFT (#8619, p. 487), Kenneth Boies ALDERMAN (#10646, p. 801), and Isaac Boies ALDERMAN (10646-ⅱ, p. 801).

p. 111

4058. William H NELLIS. This item incorrectly notes that it is additional information for Vol. 2, but it is additional information for Vol. 1.

p. 112

4064. Jessie Fremont NELLIS. Here, daughter Jessie (6366b) is shown with her mother’s surname, NELLIS, but on page 194, Jessie is shown with her father’s surname, WYMAN.

p. 116

4114. George W. NELLIS. It offers that George may have died on “Monday 4 Jan 1914”, but 4 Jan 1914 is a Sunday. So, did they mean Sunday or did they mean 5 Jan 1914?

p. 117

4154b. Edward Thomas MEYERS.
4154c. Daisy MEYERS.
4154d. John MEYERS.
Here it gives their surname as MEYERS, but on page 52, it gives their surname as MYER.

p. 118

4154e. Frank MEYERS. Here it gives his surname as MEYERS, but on page 52, it gives his surname as MYER.

p. 119

4163. Arthur Eldridge WARNER. Here it says that he died 12 Apr 1885, 6 days before he was married on 18 Apr 1885 and 4 years before daughter Isadore was born (4 Jul 1889), as it says in Vol. 1, p. 556. I suspect it was a correction to Vol. 1 and that it meant to give an updated marriage date. Numerous other sources say he died in 1937.

p. 124

4310c. Louise A. THORP. The detailed information for the three children is on page 202; however, the IDs don’t match. The following table translates the IDs used on the two pages and the index.

Namep. 124p. 202Index
Philip A. R. CHRISTMAN 6542g6542b6542g
Byron A. CHRISTMAN 6542h6540c6542c*
Herman A. CHRISTMAN 6542i6540d6540d
* Byron’s ID in the index doesn’t match the ID on either page.

4310d. John Jacob THORP. The detailed information for the two children is on page 202; however, the IDs don’t match. The following table translates the IDs used on the two pages and the index.

Namep. 124p. 202Index
Benjamin F. THORP 6542j6540e6542j
Ethel Aljelina THORP6542k6540f6542k

4310k. Jessie A. SHULL. The detailed information for daughter Helena is on page 204; however, the ID doesn’t match. The following table translates the IDs used on the two pages and the index.

Namep. 124p. 204Index
Helena HASKINS6542L6542f6542L

p. 130

4461b. Armina Louise MAYER.

4461c. Adolph MAYER. Adolph is shown here with surname MAYER, but shown on page 59 as MEYER.

p. 131

4486b. William COOK. There is no valid reference to this ID. William COOK is the son of Josephine NELLIS (#2168) and Alonzo COOK, who are shown in Vol. 1, p. 338. The ID 4486b is erroneously applied to an unnamed child of Henrietta Hinchman NELLIS (#2166) listed on page 61.

p. 132

4541. Blanche GROFF
4536. Arnold J. NELLIS.
The two items are out of sequence.

p. 133

4561b. Flora Anna SIMMONS. On the referring page, page 61, Flora is shown with ID 4562b.

4562b. George Leslie SIMMONS. On the referring page, page 61, George is shown with ID 4562c.

4562c. Roy E. WILKINSON. On the referring page, page 61, this ID is shown associated with George Leslie SIMMONS, who is listed on this page with ID 4562b. Roy should have been referenced as a son of (#2218) Annie Elizabeth NELLIS on page 62.

4562d. Leslie M. WILKINSON. This orphaned entry has no entry referencing it. It seems likely that Leslie was the son of (#2218) Annie Elizabeth NELLIS and Munson WILKINSON (page 62).

p. 134

4562e. Hattie NELLIS. She is referenced in Vol. 1 (page 347) with ID 4564.

p. 137

4613o. Robert G. SNYDER. (Robert’s ID is given in the index and on page 63 as 4619d.) It is well established that Robert was born in 1890 (e.g. Find a Grave) so daughter (ⅰ) Jean SNYDER could not have been born in 1894. It turns out that the birth and death dates attributed to Jean match those of her father-in-law (see Find a Grave).

p. 138

4613v. Ophra Emerald WILSON. Her name is misspelled. The correct spelling is Orpha.

p. 147

5247c. Archibald Ross WAGONER. Here it lists son (7622e, i) as Ralph Seaman WAGONER, but on page 338, it spells his surname as WAGNER.

p. 150

5273c. Edward Byron NELLIS. On page 78 it gives Edward’s brother Walter Burdett NELLIS this ID. The index gives the ID to both brothers.

p. 152

5295. Mildred Edith NELLIS. Son Barry is assigned ID 7484, which, on p. 323 and the index, is assigned to Marguerite Ida NELLIS. Barry’s ID should likely be 7684, one greater than brother Gary.

p. 154

5366. Clarence NELLIS. Daughter Aleatha M. NELLIS should be shown with new ID 7771b (see detail on p. 356).

p. 157

5451. Lloyd Bruce NELLIS. Elnora/Eleanor (7869b) is given as the daughter of Lloyd and Ella, but other sources suggest that Elnora is the daughter of Ella and her first husband, Nathan Keller Yerdon (1897–1920).

pp. 160–61

5612b. Margaret SPOAR. Daughter Cora CHRISTMAN (ⅰ) is extraneously assigned the ID 8049b, which has no target entry. She is referenced with her husband, a 4th cousin, Clifton Walter BECK (#7887, p. 374).

p. 165

5756b. Franklin Hudson BECK. In Volume 1, page 479, he has the ID 5754.

p. 166

5758b. William Francis HORSEWOOD. It suggests that the mother of child (ⅳ) Barbara HORSEWOOD was Lillian Elizabeth PRICE, but actually Barbara’s mother was William’s first wife, Evelyn Marie PRESTON (1920–1993), whom he married in 1937 and divorced in 1947.

5772b. Edsil H. BALDWIN. Incorrect reference ID for Libbie May VANDERVEER. Should be 3407c (p. 93).

p. 167

5823. Richard DENISON. Here it says that Richard and wife Margaret (also) had son John Edward DENISON (#8239), but in Vol. 1 (p. 744) it says that John Edward DENISON (#8239) was the son of Richard’s brother Lionel Booker DENISON (#5825).

p. 168

5834b. Abel J. POTTER. On page 95, his name is given as Abel J. BAUDER. Which is correct?

p. 171

6010c. William John NELLES. Corrections from daughter (ⅰ) Maureen herself:

pp. 182–83

6247b. Otis J. MILLER. Ambiguous! At first glance, it looks like it is saying that Otis married Mary J. BORN in Dec 1868, which is impossible because Otis was born that year. It is actually saying that he married Mary J. (MILLER), who was born in Dec 1868. According to Find a Grave and U.S. Social Security Applications and Claims, Mary’s surname at birth was RATHBUN.

pp. 183–84

6247e. Hollis Murdoc MILLER. It says their child (ⅶ) Wendell Laurence MILLER was born in “Muscatine, Muscatine Co., IL [Illinois]”, but Muscatine, Muscatine Co., is in Iowa (IA).

p. 187

6247i. John Delaney MILLER. It says that he was married in “Aurora, Brookings Co., ND [North Dakota]”, but Aurora, Brookings Co., is in South Dakota (SD).

p. 194

References 6366b and 6364 are presented out of order.

6366b. Jessie Ada WYMAN. Here, Jessie is shown with her father’s surname, WYMAN, but on page 112, Jessie is shown with her mother’s surname, NELLIS.

pp. 194–95

6395b. Chancy Benjamin McKAY.

p. 201

6505b. Fenton George WACHTER. It is certainly incorrect that Fenton died on the same day that he married his first wife (8 Apr 1891), yet lived to marry a second wife.

p. 202

Several IDs are specified incorrectly and are out of sequence. They are referenced on p. 124.

p. 203

6542b. Loran William GIDDINGS. His ID is duplicated for Philip A. R. CHRISTMAN on p. 202. He is associated with his parents on p. 123.

p. 204

6542f. Helena HASKINS. Her ID doesn’t match that given on p. 124, where her ID is given as 6542l (ell).

IDs 6542g–6542k are misplaced on p. 202 where incorrect IDs are given.

p. 205

6598. Aida FLINT. Should be Alida FLINT (see Vol. 1 and Index of Vol. 2).

p. 211

6678. Gertrude NELLIS. The children are listed out of order, and one daughter is missing. The corrected list would be:

  1. Russell HUTT (b. 1929)
  2. Marilyn HUTT (b. 1932)
  3. Elinor HUTT (b. 1934)
  4. Karen Jill HUTT (b. 1944)
  5. Suzette HUTT (b. 1952)
This information from Elinor’s daughter, Amy Gilchrist.

p. 212

6697. Charles Daniel NELLIS. Here it says that wife Magdalene CALDWELL died in 1986, but for brother James Ward NELLIS (#6699) on page 213, it says she died in 1973.

p. 213

6699. James Ward NELLIS. Here it says that Magdalene CALDWELL died in 1973, but for brother Charles Daniel NELLIS (#6697) on page 212, it says she died in 1986.

p. 215

6726. Ruth Neely VINCENT. Ruth’s entry states that she had two husbands Duane. The name of her 2nd husband is likely not Duane, but Norman Stanley Peter MADSEN, as given in Find a Grave.

6727. Mabel NEELEY. Mabel’s entry states that she died in Cary, Wake County, New York, but Cary, Wake County, is in North Carolina, where she actually died.

p. 217

6741. Edwin Stanley NELLIS. Here it gives his son’s name as James Scott NELLIS (#9239), but on page 568, it gives the name James Scott HOYT. NELLIS would seem to be correct, given his father’s surname. Also, the index supports NELLIS.

p. 227

6803. Frank Nellis ‘Jim’ SIMMONS Ⅱ. Daughters (ⅰ) Donna Marilyn SIMMONS and (ⅲ) Betty Joan SIMMONS are not this Frank’s daughters, but are instead his sisters, daughters of his father Frank Nellis SIMMONS (#4561, Vol. 1, p. 596).

p. 231

6843. Nettie Mae PARSH. “PARSH” should be PARSHALL.

p. 232

6844. James Glen PARSH.
6845. Ada Pearl PARSH.
6846. Barton Adelmar PARSH.
6847. Virginia Belle PARSH.
“PARSH” should be PARSHALL.

p. 249

6982. Helen Doreen HASSELFELDT. The person listed as child (9416 ⅰ) Collette LEASK is not a daughter, but daughter-in-law, wife to son Grant LEASK, according to a 3 Nov 2022 email Helen’s first cousin Linda Diane HASSELFELDT (#9419).

p. 262

7059. Benjamin Charles BARRY.

p. 271

7140. Donna McISSAC.
7141. James Edward McISSAC.
7142. Helen McISSAC.
7145. Ronald McISSAC.

p. 273

7175. Ariss Jeanette JONES. Her spouse, Roy England [sic] Victor CROW, is likely a conflation of two people: Roy ENGLUND (WikiTree) and Victor CROW (WikiTree). Also, daughter Elodie CROW is most likely Elodie ENGLUND (WikiTree).

p. 274

7182. Fay Monroe RUSSELL. His children here are listed as Wayne V. MILLER (#9586) and Janet Marie MILLER (#9587), but on p. 623 they are given as Wayne V. RUSSELL and Janet Marie RUSSELL. The index only lists them with the RUSSELL surname.

pp. 293–94

7308. Doris May PATTEN. The surname of her husband’s father is misspelled. The correct spelling is SHIACH (not SHIASH).

7310. Shirley Margaret PATTEN. The surname of her husband’s father is misspelled. The correct spelling is SHIACH (not SHIASH). Furthermore, her husband’s surname and that of their children are also misspelled. The correct spelling is (again) SHIACH (not SHAICH). The spellings of the children’s surnames are spelled correctly for their detail entries (pp. 640–41).

p. 294

7311. Doris Jean EDGINGTON. It says that her husband, Wray OGBORNE, died before 1994, but his Find-a-Grave memorial says he died in 2021.

p. 309

7386. Harold Snell FOX. It says his son, (ⅰ) Harold FOX, was both born and died on 6 May 1916. Amble evidence supports the birth date, but that he died on his birthday in 1961.

p. 311

7401. Edward Ellis LEPPER. His wife was Nancy Marie LEPPER, #7402, his first cousin.

7402. Nancy Marie LEPPER. Her husband is not Edward ELLIS, but Edward Ellis LEPPER, #7401, her first cousin.

7405b. Ellen Ruth MOCK. Here it gives the surname of (9778 ⅲ) daughter Patricia as MAEHLER, which corresponds to her father, but on page 656, it gives her surname as McINTYRE, associating her with her mother’s first husband. MAEHLER is presumed correct.

p. 338

7622e. Ralph Seaman WAGNER. Contrary to this spelling, Ralph’s surname is spelled WAGONER on page 147.

p. 343

7659b. Ross Vincent STOLTZ. It shows that he married his second wife, Lucy ROSS, on 4 Nov 1978 after she had already died in Jan 1978 and on the same day that he died.

p. 350

7727. John A. NELLIS. All other sources agree that he was born in Iowa, not New York.

pp. 351–52

7737. Margaret Antoinette BERDAN. Her husband Lawrence’s and daughter Ellen Kay’s surnames are spelled incorrectly. They should both be WHETHAM.

p. 355

7754. Doris Whitford NELLIS died 3 Jan 2001 in Abington, Montgomery Co., PA. Her husband Ernest Wellman WING was born on 30 Jun 1919 in Washington, D.C., and died 31 Aug 1989 in Ambler, Montgomery Co., PA.

7755. Richard Eugene NELLIS Jr. died 21 Mar 2011 in Lewisburg, Union Co., PA. Elizabeth Barbara SQUIRES died 18 Sep 2010 in Center Township, Snyder Co., PA.

7756. Nancy-Linn NELLIS died 18 Apr 2015 in Stockton Springs, Waldo Co., ME. She donated her body for medical research to the Anatomical Donor Program, University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Biddeford, ME. Cremated. Her ashes were buried on 21 Jul 2018 at Glendale C., Middleburg, Snyder Co., PA. Her second husband was Robert Wilson SHAFFER (not William). He died 25 Dec 2015 in NJ. Nancy-Linn fourth married Herbert Paul ELLIOTT Jr. on 23 May 1992 in Storm Lake, Buena Vista Co., IA, at All Saints Episcopal Church. Herbert was born 26 May 1920 in Louisville, Jefferson, KY, and died 22 Mar 2006 in Bangor, Penobscot, ME.

7757. Herbert Livingston NELLIS Jr. was born 30 Sep 1946. He married Yolanda BUKOWSKI on 9 Oct 1982 in South Amboy, Middlesex Co., NJ.

7758. Jean Norma LOWES died 8 Mar 2018 in MD.

p. 357

7775. Donald Edward NELLIS. For daughter Susan Grace NELLIS (ⅱ), the 7 Sep 1986 date given as the death date for husband James L. DAVIS is actually their marriage date, per personal correspondence with Susan herself.

p. 360

7793. Olive Antionette KIMBRO.

7796. Joan Bruce SNELL. She was born in Fort Totten, Queens, New York City, not Benson Co., North Dakota. (She is listed as a geographer. Ironic that they got the geography wrong!)

p. 368

7853. Kenneth A. NELLIS.
7854. Harold Clyde NELLIS
The two brothers are both shown to be married to Mildred Edith DICKENSEN at the same time, judging by the birth dates of their respective children. Furthermore, it shows that both brothers sired a son, James (Harold) NELLIS, born 24 Jul 1934, with Mildred. Not seeing any sources supporting the marrige of Mildred with Kenneth. Find a Grave supports Harold as her husband and shows Kenneth’s wife as Marion Doris KING.

p. 372

7877. Charles Edward HAYES. Wife Nettie June FRAZIER was not born on the same day as Charles. Multiple other sources give her birth date as 10 Jun 1933.

pp. 376–77

7912. William John SYMOLON. Not shown is ID 10106b assigned to daughter (i) Debora Jean SYMOLON as given in the index and as referenced in the entry for her husband, Laurence NELLIS (#10179) on p. 728.

pp. 379–80

7939. Darwin Herbert FOX. Darwin’s son (ⅶ) Darwin Herbert FOX is shown here with ID 10110, but his correct ID is 10111, as given on detail page 714 and in the index. The 10110 ID is properly assigned to Milford Eugene FOX on pages 379 and 714.

p. 384

7968. Howard Edgar WILKINSON. The entry for daughter Lynn Marie MACDONALD gives both an incorrect ID (#5888) and an incorrect surname (MACDONALD). Her correct ID and surname are 10125 and WILKINSON, as given on p. 717 and in the index. (ID 5888 belongs to Jessie Margaret POOK; see Vol. 1, p. 750.) The index shows both IDs for her, but only lists her under WILKINSON.

p. 391

8037. Mabel Lisle BUCKLIN. It says that she married #10904b Neil Kenneth MACEWEN, but on p. 848 it assigns Noel Anthony SMITH the ID 10904b. The index associates the ID with both men.

8050. Frances SPOAR. It lists her children here with the surname of her first husband, SAKELL, but on pp. 723–24, it lists them with the surname of her 2nd husband, McCAULEY. The children’s birthdates, coming after her 2nd marriage, suggest they were the issue of the 2nd husband and so would take the McCAULEY name.

p. 397

8088. Ernest James SALTSMAN.

p. 398

8092. Florence May SALTSMAN. Unlikely that Florence married married Harry SPEARS at age 4 years. The photo of her headstone at Find a Grave gives her birth year as 1917, ten years older. Still young, but believably so.

p. 401

8113. Vivian Belle SALTSMAN. She married ZASO, not GASO. Specifically, she married Michael ZASO, born 27 Feb 1918 in Mount Morris, Livingston Co., NY, died 1988.

p. 402

8126. Curtis Slyvander NELLES. Middle name should be Sylvander (see dedication page in Volume 1).

p. 405

8138. Sidney Gray SALTSMAN. Sidney certainly did not get married at one month old. The biography on his Find A Grave memorial says he was married on 22 Mar 1964.

p. 413

8193d. Dorothy Roseline ROBERTS. Accord to his WWⅡ draft card, husband Ivan’s middle name was Clarence (not Clyde).

p. 417

8217. Louise Elizabeth STOCKARD. Unlikely that daughter (ⅰ) Susan Dougall VICK was born and died in Rochester, Monroe Co., NY (New York), but was buried in Rochester, Monroe Co., MI (Michigan). Besides, Michigan does not have a Rochester in Monroe County.

pp. 425–26

8259. Vinton Jesse NELLIS. Vinton and Mary certainly did not marry before Vinton was born.

8262c. Loucille NELLIS. Loucille did not marry Arthur William NICKELS. Her sister, Ann Elizabeth NELLIS married Arthur and had the children listed under Loucille. Ann Elizabeth NELLIS is shown as Elizabeth Ann NELLIS, child ⅳ of Orrin John NELLIS, #5858b on page 168. Source: Ann’s daughter (ⅲ) Nancy Maureen NICKELS, #10252.

p. 437

8330c. David Alexander YOUNG. It says his wife is Michelle Lee WARREN, #11631b, the daughter of Ronald George WARREN; however, on p. 828, it names #11631b as Michelle Lee THOMPSON as the daughter of David Allen THOMPSON. Furthermore, on p. 828 it gives Michelle’s birth year as 1973, but here it gives her children as being born in 1955, 1959, and 1961, over 12 years before their mother was born.

p. 440

8349. Ralph Ormond YOUNG. Ralph’s wife’s middle name should be May (not Mae). Son Gary’s wife’s birth surname should be HADDOW (not HADDON). Son Greg’s wife’s middle name should be Irene (not Ann).

p. 441

8358. Lillian GILLESPIE. Here it says that Lillian’s husband and children have the surname WAINMAN, but in Vol. 1, p. 766, it gives MARKS. MARKS appears to be correct.

p. 473

8540. Mildred BEEKS. Her husband, Ray BOWERS, couldn’t have died when given to be the father her children.

p. 501

8705f, Terrence John BROOKE. The surname BROOKE should be BROOKS for Terrence and his four children.

p. 506

Entry 8741, Madora Grace ROWLEY, is out of sequence.

p. 519

8846. Bonnie Marie NELLIS. Multiple sources show that ARMBURG is incorrect; that it should be ARNBURG.

p. 522

8861. Millard MALONEY. It says here that he died the same year he was born, 1893, but other sources (e.g., Find A Grave,) say 1989, which seems more likely.

p. 525

8870. Grace Irene HARRINGTON. The entry indicates that Grace and her 2nd husband, Fred John David NINNEMAN Jr., had children Ernest Victor NINNEMAN (#10804) and Thelma A. NINNEMAN (#10805), but there is strong evidence that these children are not of Fred and Grace, but of Fred and his 1st wife, Beatrice Victoria May DAY. Note that Grace and Fred wed in 1945 while children Ernest and Thelma were born in 1927 and 1929, respectively.

8871. Winifred Harriet HARRINGTON. Her surname is given incorrectly; it should be PALMER, as it is given in Vol. 1, p. 807. She is also incorrectly indexed as HARRINGTON.

p. 539

8979b. Ida Louise STEELE. Clearly, son (ⅳ) John Raymond RUDGE was not buried 9 days before he was born (and died).

p. 540

8979g. Dona Jean RAY. Regarding her son, (ⅰ) Nathan Kareemjabar OLIVER, the reference to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar may seem to suggest some relationship; however, this Wikipedia article supports no such relationship.

p. 541

8979k. Catherine Jane MEYERS. Husband Michael Christopher ROSFELD was certainly not born in 1987 as that would make him 30 years younger than his wife, and 1 year old when he had his first child. Other sources suggest he was born in 1963. The date given as his birth date is likely his marriage date.

p. 543

8997. Ethel K. NELLIS. Husband Willis BARSHIED died 6 Jan 2020 in Fort Plain, Montgomery, NY.

p. 549

9030l. Myra Lina ZABEL. Myra’s first husband was Albert Joseph STEPAN (1901–1977). Albert was the biological father to daughter Allegra Nancy Alberta KNAPP (#10886). Allegra was adopted by Myra’s second husband, Herman KNAPP.

p. 550

9039. Hazel Shrewsbury MESICK. Hazel married Kenneth Foster BROWN (not Kenneth FOSTER). Kenneth’s father was Jacob Foster BROWN (not Jacob Brown FOSTER). Their children, likewise, had BROWN as their surnames, although it seems Foster was a recurring middle name.

p. 551

9041. Wayne TRIPP. Daughter (i) Vicki TRIPP certainly did not marry on the day she was born (7 Apr 1982).

p. 554

9056. Ella DIEFENDORF. Ella could not have been born in 1854 if her mother, Alida Eleanor GETMAN, (Vol. 1, p. 827, #6557) was born in 1853.

p. 555

9103. Tatiani Hunt SZEFTEL. Her given name is misspelled. The correct spelling is Tatiana. Her daughter’s (ⅰ) given name is also misspelled. The correct spelling is Deirdre. Both corrections from Tatiana herself.

p. 558

9121. Hester Livingston ADAMS. Hester’s surname at birth is BAKEWELL, not ADAMS. (Her mother’s name is Hester Livingston ADAMS as given in Vol. 1, p. 832, ID 6647.)

p. 568

9239. James Scott HOYT. The surname HOYT for James and all four children is incorrect; it should be NELLIS. (It seems the HOYT name was mistakenly carried down from previous entries on this page.) The index lists James and all four children under NELLIS, not HOYT.

p. 569

9245. Mary Eleanor FITCH.

p. 581

9314. Frank Nellis SIMMONS Ⅲ. Numerous other sources agree that he was born in 1923, not 1933.

p. 583

9326. Melvin Lee SNYDER.
9326. Melinda Ann MILLS.
Two different names are assigned the same ID, both here and in the index. Melvin is the son of Philo Bryon [sic*] SNYDER (6901d, p. 234). Melinda is the daughter of Georgia Rose CHASE (6904, p. 240).
* Should be Byron.

p. 597

9411. Heather Lynne STANLEY. Her surname is given as WELSH on page 246 for the entry of her father, Robert Stanley WELSH, ID 6949. WELSH is presumed to be correct. Perhaps an error based on her father’s middle name. The index lists her under both surnames.

p. 599

9429. Sandra BUNDAGE. Husband Joe FARLEY could not have been born in 1979 if son (daughter?) Joshawa as also born in 1979. Suspect that Joe’s “born” date of 1979 was actually his marriage date.

p. 609

9495. Brenda Ann REID. Daughter (ⅰ) Brandi could not have died in 1918, 58 years before she was born!

p. 623

9586. Wayne V. RUSSELL. On his father’s entry (7182, p. 274) Wayne’s name is given as Wayne V. MILLER. The index only lists his RUSSELL surname.

9587. Janet Marie RUSSELL. On her father’s entry (7182, p. 274) Janet’s name is given as Janet Marie MILLER. The index only lists her RUSSELL surname.

p. 656

9778. Patricia Ellen McINTYRE. Here it gives Patricia’s surname as her mother’s first husband’s surname, but on page 311, it gives her surname as MAEHLER, corresponding to her mother’s 2nd husband. MAEHLER is presumed correct.

p. 691

Reference ID 9994 should be 9964 for Valerie Jean LAKE, as specified for a child of Doris Rose WOLFORD (7663, p. 344) and in the index.

p. 693

9979. Susan Nellis HOLMGREN. Her father-in-law’s middle name is spelled incorrectly. It should be Hull (not “Hall”).

p. 694

9981. Ellen Kay WHETNAM. The surname is spelled incorrectly. It should be WHETHAM.

9984. Harriet Gale McNOMEE. The listed children are incorrect. It should read:

  1. Garrett B. MAGANN. Born 20 Jan 1971.
  2. Shannon L. MAGANN. Born 16 Apr 1974.

p. 696

9992. Kathryn Anne NELLIS. Her husband Peter Michael McGINNIS died 24 Sep 2003 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA.

p. 703

10044. David Bruce SCHUR. Wife Sue STARR couldn’t have been born in 1973 if she had a child born in 1975.

p. 718

10134. Irving Francis SHORT. It says that wife Jean Beckwith HOFMANN was born in 1941, a 23-year difference in their ages, but other sources say she was born in 1918 and that they were married in 1941.

p. 723

10134. Irving Francis SHORT. It says that wife Jean Beckwith HOFMANN was born in 1941, a 23-year difference in their ages, but other sources say she was born in 1918 and that they were married in 1941.

pp. 723–24

10158. Ann McCAULEY.
10159. Mary ‘Mamie’ McCAULEY.
10160. Frank Edward McCAULEY.
These are children of Frances SPOAR (#8050). They are listed here with the surname of her 2nd husband, but on page 391 they are listed with the surname of her 1st husband, SAKELL. The children’s birthdates, coming after her 2nd marriage, suggest they were the issue of the 2nd husband and so would take the McCAULEY name.

p. 739

10239. Betty Jo HORNER. Here it gives daughter Connie Lynn ERICKSON the ID 11458, a duplicate with Shirley Marqurite WALDON (see pages 742 and 920), but on p. 920, gives Connie the ID 11457, a duplicate with her half-sister Debra Darlyne WILLIAMS (see pages 739 and 920).

p. 741

10260. Linda Marguerite MAIN. Daughter (ⅰ) Lauren Kelly DEMIRJIAN’s husband Kurt Bryon GORDON certainly was not born in 1999, twenty years after Lauren. Other sources say he was born in the same year as Lauren, 1979, and he married her in 1999.

p. 785

10539. Ronald John KNIGHT. Regarding his wife, Carol Ann BURTON, it says, “He was born…”. (Should be She.)

p. 811

10712. Shirley Ann COX. It is highly unlikely that Shirley married, as a 2nd husband, a man (Richard Siegfried WAGNER) who is 59 years her junior.

p. 812

10714. Richard Arthur COX. Richard certainly was not born after his wedding day. Other sources suggest he was born 23 Nov 1926.

p. 816

Reference ID 7248 should be 11583 for James Ogden BELLINGER, as specified on p. 938 and for the husband of Grace Ella Nellis (#7909). (ID 7248 has been assigned to Ian Leslie McCULLOCH as seen in Vol. 1, p. 633; Vol. 2, p. 282; and the indexes of both volumes.)

p. 821

10762. Lucille Marie NELLIS. Her WRIGLEY daughter is given here as Brenda Lee WRIGLEY (#11607), but on p. 941, her name is given as Brenda Lee NELLIS. The index only lists her NELLIS surname.

10768. Maxine Ellen NELSON could not have been married in 1936 if she were born in 1939.

p. 828

10794. Lou Ann HARRINGTON. It says her daughter is Michelle Lee THOMPSON, #11631b; however, on p. 437, it names #11631b as Michelle Lee WARREN as the daughter of Ronald George WARREN.

p. 835

10832. Judith Ann ALDRICH. Son (ⅱ, #11660) should be Daniel Kent LOW (not David). This information from Judith herself.

pp. 836–37

10843. Pamela Jane GROS. Sons (ⅱ) Christopher and (ⅲ) James were certainly not born 3 months apart.

p. 839

10856. Sarah Elizabeth NELLIS. Daughter (ⅰ) Elizabeth McDonnell KUEHL did not die in 1980 (at age 3 mos., 20 days) and in fact is alive, is married, and has children, according to her aunt (#10857) as of 3 Jan 2024.

p. 846

10897. Lila Foster FOSTER. Her surname was actually BROWN (like her father’s corrected surname, see #9039, Hazel Shrewsbury MESICK, on p. 550) so her full name was Lila Foster BROWN.

p. 847

10898. Kenneth Shrewsburg FOSTER (b. 1893).
10899. Ralph Shrewsbury FOSTER (b. 1895)

See their parents at #9039, Hazel Shrewsbury MESICK, on p. 550

p. 848

10904. Donald SMITH. Son Richard SMITH is incorrectly shown here with ID 11715. (11715 is correctly assigned to Michael Griffith GIDDINGS.) Richard’s correct ID is 11717 as shown on p. 958 and in the index.

10904b. Noel Anthony SMITH. This identifier, 10904b, is assigned to a different person, Neil Kenneth MACEWEN, on p. 391. The index associates the ID with both men.

p. 880

11190. Holly Jean MACKIE. On page 661 her name is given as Holly Jean BOWNE, which seems to be correct given that BOWNE is her father’s surname. MACKIE probably is a conflation with the husband of Holly’s sister (#11191) Constance, Trevor Franklin MACKIE.

p. 920

11457. Debra Darlyne WILLIAMS ERICKSON.
11457. Connie Lynn ERICKSON.
11458. Shirley Marqurite WALDON.
Here it gives the same ID, 11457, to two different people, but on p. 739 it gives Connie the ID for Shirley Marqurite WALDON (#11458).

p. 934

11559. Eric Daniel MILLER. It says their children were born in “Englewood, Arapahoe Co., CA [California]”, but Englwood, Arapahoe Co., is in Colorado (CO).

p. 941

11607. Brenda Lee NELLIS. On her mother’s entry (10762, p. 821) Brenda’s name is given as Brenda Lee WRIGLEY. The index only lists her NELLIS surname.

p. 945

11628. Sonia A. FREMMER. Daughter (ⅰ) Renee Colleen BROADWELL is shown here with incorrect ID 20046. It should be 20047 as given on her entry on page 965. ID 20046 is assigned to Renea Richelle BENNETT, both on her parents’ entry (page 938, ID 11587, Vicki Ione GRAY) and her entry on page 965.

p. 950

11660. David Kent LOW. His name should be Daniel Kent LOW (not David). This information from his mother, Judith Ann ALDRICH (#10832 on page. 835).

p. 954

11687. Darvin Donald DAVIS. Son Colb Dean DAVIS (ⅲ) could not have been born (1942) before his father (1951).

p. 965

20046. Renea Richelle BENNETT. This ID was also (erroneously) assigned to Renee Colleen BROADWELL on page 945 and in the index (see next entry).

20047. Renee Colleen BROADWELL. Her ID was incorrectly given as 20046 on page 945 and in the index. ID 20046 belongs to Renea Richele BENNETT (see above).

p. 966

20051. Michael George NOVEY. When referring to his wife, Laura Helen LAUFENBERG, it says, “He was born…”. It should say that She was born….
